When architects design spectacular spiral staircases or space-efficient stair flights, engineers and installers frequently face complex challenges on-site. Traditional support ledges and corbels require thick concrete cross-sections, time-consuming reinforcement work, and risky fine-tuning using shims during structural assembly.

The TSS 25 L solves all of these challenges. Rather than being a telescopic unit, it is a specialized, rigid "3-i-1" connector mounted between the stair flight and the landing. It eliminates the need for visible ledges and unsightly corbels, saving significant costs for both the precast plant and the installation crew.
The three primary reasons why the TSS 25 L has become an industry favorite:
1. Three Essential Functions in One Unit
The "3-in-1" description stems from the unit's ability to handle three critical tasks in a single operation:
- Built-In Lifting: The unit serves as an approved lifting point during transport and installation when paired with the corresponding wire loop lift. This eliminates the need for temporary, additional lifting sockets in the concrete.
- Pre-Reinforced: The product is delivered pre-reinforced from our factory in Åndalsnes, Norway. For the precast manufacturer, this means straight anchoring bars that easily weave into the staircase's main reinforcement, drastically cutting production times.
- Infinite Height Adjustment: Perhaps the greatest advantage on the construction site is the integrated, step-less height adjustment, making shims and tedious up-and-down crane maneuvering completely obsolete.
2. Enhanced HSE and Rapid On-Site Alignment
Erecting heavy precast concrete elements always carries an inherent risk of crush injuries. When installers must manually reach underneath a suspended staircase element to position shims (packing plates), that risk increases considerably.
The TSS 25 L puts health and safety (HSE) first:
- Smarter Levelling: Because the unit features infinite height adjustment, the installer can quickly and precisely screw the staircase to the exact target level.
- Minimizing Crush Zone Exposure: The straightforward mechanical adjustment allows the element to be aligned in a short amount of time, which in turn limits the duration installers must spend in potential crush zones beneath the crane.
Technical Specifications:
Capacity: Supports a vertical safe working load of 25 kN and features an approved lifting capacity of 8 kN.
Flexibility: Can be combined with our custom-fit acoustic dampening box to effectively reduce structure-borne impact sound.
Economics: Both the precast plant (faster reinforcement inside the formwork) and the contractor (faster, safer on-site installation) unlock major financial benefits.
3. Slimmer Architectural Design
Aesthetics and material savings go hand in hand with modern structural engineering. By utilizing the TSS 25 L, you achieve architectural and economic advantages that are far more difficult to execute using traditional methods.
- Thinner Concrete Slabs: You can significantly slim down the slab thickness of both the stair flight and the landing, as the hidden connector pin transfers the forces where a bulky concrete ledge was previously required. Less concrete means lower material costs and a reduced carbon footprint.
- Tailored for Spiral Staircases: The geometry of spiral staircases makes support placement and reinforcement layouts exceptionally complicated. Due to its compact design and rigid connection, the TSS 25 L is perfectly optimized for curved and twisted staircase formations.
The Economic Advantages of the TSS 25 L
When profit margins in a construction project are tight, every single component must justify its place on the budget. The TSS 25 L is not merely a technical achievement; it delivers a direct, two-fold financial return - from the factory floor to the completed structural frame.
For the Precast Manufacturer:
Time-consuming reinforcement work drains valuable production hours in a precast plant. Because the TSS 25 L is delivered pre-reinforced with straight anchoring bars, it is woven into the staircase’s main reinforcement without tedious, manual modifications. This results in shorter setup times per mold, faster production cycles, and a direct reduction in labor hours per manufactured unit.
For the Contractor on Site:
On the construction site, crane time is one of the most dominant cost drivers. Traditional shimming methods often require the crane to hold the element under tension for extended periods while installers manually fine-tune the levels. With the infinite height adjustment of the TSS 25 L, the stair flight or landing is aligned in very little time; the crane can be released sooner, and only one person is needed to perform the final fine-tuning afterward.
When you factor in the material savings from designing thinner concrete slabs, the project gains additional returns through lower concrete costs and reduced shipping weights. The TSS 25 L is engineered to create a better workflow on-site and a healthier bottom line for the entire project.
