How Wire-Pull Technology is Revolutionising Staircase Installation

When multi-tonne precast concrete elements are hoisted into a stairwell, success relies on precision, absolute efficiency, and the safety of the installation crew. During crane lifting and positioning, site workers' hands and fingers are highly exposed to severe crush hazards.
As the only manufacturer on the market, Invisible Connections provides a unique, patented solution to this challenge: a fully telescopic connector equipped with an integrated wire-pull and safety return cord.
This technology entirely removes the need for high-risk manual handling during structural alignment, setting a brand-new standard for health, safety, and environment (HSE) on the construction site.
Putting HSE First
Traditional staircase anchoring methods frequently require installers to work in immediate proximity to the suspended load - checking alignments, adjusting brackets, or tightening bolts while the element hangs from the crane.
With our telescopic units (TSS and RVK), crush hazards are engineered out of the process:
- Zero Contact During Locking: Thanks to the wire-pull and return-cord system, installers can stand at a safe distance from the suspended concrete element.
- Hands Clear of the Crush Zone: Once the stair flight or landing is perfectly aligned, the operator simply pulls the wire to slide the structural inner steel tube out and into the wall's recess former.
- Total Control via the Return Cord: If the connector needs to be retracted for re-positioning, the return cord allows the operator to pull it back just as easily from a distance. At no point during the process do hands ever need to touch the steel connector itself.
TSS vs. RVK: Which Telescopic Connector Fits Your Project?
While both the TSS and RVK are fully telescopic solutions, the choice between them depends primarily on the required finish of the concrete surface:

TSS: Ideal for Pre-Finished Elements
The TSS unit is operated entirely using a safety cord/wire from the stair element against the wall. Because all deployment and adjustment take place inside the joint, the unit leaves no visible marks, holes, or recesses on the top surface of the concrete.
When to specify TSS: This unit is the perfect choice when stairs or landings arrive on-site 100% pre-finished from the precast plant - such as polished terrazzo or architectural fair-faced concrete - where any post-installation surface patching is unacceptable.
RVK: The Cost-Effective Choice for Covered Finishes
The RVK unit operates on the exact same telescopic principle but features a recess that opens to the top surface of the precast element. Once the inner tube is deployed into the wall, a small pocket remains on the top of the stair or landing. This recess is quickly backfilled with grout on-site.
When to specify RVK: The RVK is one of our most cost-effective connection structural solutions. It is ideally suited for projects where the stair flights are scheduled for post-installation architectural finishes, such as tiling, carpeting, or screed, which will completely conceal the grouted pocket.
